Magnet schools are free public schools with specialized programs that focus on themes such as performing arts, STEM, medical science, or world languages. They use technology-rich, hands-on learning to connect students’ education to the real world.
Teachers in magnet schools are specially trained to integrate these themes into rigorous academics, giving students the chance to discover and grow their talents while preparing for future success. Magnet schools are designed to help every student reach their highest potential while exploring areas of personal interest.
GuidEd provides free guidance to help families discover schools that fit your child’s needs. Schedule an appointment and a choice navigator will contact you.
Every family’s education journey is different. GuidEd spoke with Brian Hoover, Director of Accelerated & Magnet Programs for Hillsborough County, and Darcy Santos, Coordinator of Magnet Programs for Hillsborough County, to answer one of the most common questions: What is a magnet school?
